Don Frazier Obituary, Death – Beloved Veteran and Softball Hall of Famer Dies at 89

Don Frazier, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, veteran and accomplished athlete, passed away on August 7 at the age of 89, leaving behind a family and community filled with memories of his remarkable life.

Frazier was born on May 1, 1937, in Ohio and grew up as one of 12 children. From an early age, sports became an important part of his life, eventually taking him from college athletics to professional baseball.

His baseball career was interrupted when he was drafted into the United States Army. While serving in Hawaii, Don met Tilly, the woman who would become the love of his life. The couple shared 64 years of marriage before his passing.

Don Frazier’s remarkable sports career

After completing his military service, Frazier did not return to professional baseball, but he continued competing at a high level through professional fastpitch softball.

Over the years, he played for teams including the Long Beach Nighthawks and Lakewood Jets, along with several other clubs. His commitment and accomplishments in the sport eventually earned him Hall of Fame recognition.

For Frazier, athletics remained an important part of his identity throughout his life, but his family always held a special place in his heart.

A devoted husband, father and grandfather

Those closest to Don remember him not only for his accomplishments on the field but for the love he had for his family.

He took particular joy in watching his grandchildren grow up and supporting them as they participated in their own sports. His family remembers him as a constant source of encouragement and pride.

He leaves behind his wife, Tilly, as well as Terry and Kristi, Randy and Tricia, six grandchildren — Parker, Karissa, Tyler, Carson, Sierra and Sadie — along with numerous other relatives and friends whose lives he touched.

Military service and celebration of life

Family and friends will have an opportunity to honor Don Frazier’s military service during a ceremony at Riverside National Cemetery on Monday, September 21, at 9:30 a.m.

Following the military service, a Celebration of Life will be held at Rodrigo’s in Corona at 11:00 a.m. Those attending will have the opportunity to share memories and stories while celebrating Don’s life and legacy.

Frazier will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, proud veteran and Hall of Fame athlete. His life was defined by service, family, sports and the relationships he built over nearly nine decades.

His loved ones now mourn his loss while holding onto the many memories he left behind.
